Metabolic Measure
Clinical Evidence vs Ingredient Evidence
A study on an ingredient is not automatically a study on every product that contains that ingredient.
Why formulation matters
Dose, ingredient form, population, duration, co-ingredients and measured outcomes all affect whether research applies to a finished product.
What FTC guidance says
FTC health-product guidance explains that advertisers must substantiate the actual express and implied claims they make. It specifically discusses situations where evidence on an isolated ingredient may not be enough to support a claim about a multi-ingredient finished product.
Our rule: product-specific efficacy claims need product-relevant evidence. Ingredient evidence can provide context, but we label it as ingredient evidence.
